Space to work from home rising in importance

A survey of over 10,000 home movers by Property Academy in June 2022 has revealed that having space to work from home has increased in importance as a property requirement over the last few years.

  • The survey, conducted by Property Academy and analysed by Dataloft, found nearly half (47%) of home movers rated space to work from home as ‘important’, up from 35% during the pandemic years of 2020–2021.
  • Almost 3 in 4 of the home movers surveyed this year stated they are able to work remotely. Time will tell if the cost-of-living crisis during the winter months will result in a return to the office for those who can.
  • 1 in 4 home movers say that remote working has impacted the distance of their move. This has been greatest in London where 39% are looking to move over 25 miles, compared to a quarter nationally. Source: Dataloft, Property Academy Home Moving Trends Survey 2022
