Buyers attracted to energy efficient new homes

The attention focused on energy bills and the cost of living crisis might be influencing more people to consider buying a new home.

  • Over half (51%) of home buyers would consider buying a new build and 17% of them are looking only at brand new homes, according to the Property Academy HomeMoving Trends Survey 2022.
  • Two thirds of those contemplating a new home purchase, said they are attracted by the energy efficiency and lower running costs of new builds.
  • These findings tie in with the general sentiment of people looking for any property. 88% of survey respondents say that running costs are important, 78% check the EPC of a property and 53% look for green credentials.
